PMMA Transparent sheet Production Line
PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate or acrylic glass) is an engineered polymer. PMMA is transparent, weather resistant, ultra violet resistant, aging resistant, soundproof and is available in wide range of colors and textures. As compared to normal glass, PMMA is two times lighter than glass and 90-92% transparent than glass. Due to remarkable optical features of PMMA sheet, it is preferred by designers and architects. PMMA sheet has also thermoforming ability, that is, it converts in liquid when heated (at 130 degree Celsius) and becomes solid when cooled.
PMMA sheet can be manufactured by traditional method “cell casting” or by more modern method “extrusion”. In traditional method, liquid monomer is poured between two flat sheets of toughened glass (a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal to improved product strength) sealed with a rubber gasket and heated for polymerization. On the other hand, extrusion is most widely used manufacturing process for PMMA sheets and profiles in which PMMA resin pellets are conveyed by rotating screws melted by heaters in barrel. This molten plastic conveys through a die at the end of the extruder. The die shapes the plastic, which is then cooled. Value added advantages of using extrusion process include excellent clarity and gloss surface, easily fabricated and make the PMMA sheet ideal for applications where complex shapes are required.
JINHU PMMA transparent sheet production line is capable of continuously producing PMMA sheet with thickness in the range of 0.8mm – 10mm and width of 800mm – 2000mm.
